This margarita brings the heat. And the smoke. It's a chipotle margarita that has, in our opinion, the perfect balance of heat and smoky flavor.
Start by infusing your favorite silver tequila with chipotle peppers (source of the smoky flavor). The process is simple. We pour a bottle of silver tequila into an infuser drink dispenser, then add four chipotle peppers (our favorite is Frieda's Simply Dried Chipotle Peppers). Let it sit for at least 30 minutes. The longer it sits, the smokier and spicier it gets.
The Recipe (makes 2 - because Docktails are meant to be shared)
- 6 ozs Chipotle Infused Tequila
- 2 ozs Cointreau
- 2 ozs Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
- 1 oz Agave Nectar
- Black Lava Salt (optional for the rim)
Mix all the ingredients except the salt in a shaker with a few cubes of ice. Shake, and pour on the rocks or straight up - your choice.
Garnish with a lime wedge.
Note: If you rim with salt, rim before pouring your drink. ;-)
